Philip Carreon is no stranger to Fashion Week. The Eufora International Creative Director and celebrity stylist has worked his magic at numerous shows and shares his 5 Secrets to Fashion Week Hair:

  1. The most important thing about Fashion Week is understanding the concept, especially if you are the lead stylist. In advance of the show, ask the designer to share a mood board, as well details on the collection so the look you create enhances the fabrics and fit. Also, be sure to ask for to meet face-to-face with the designer before the show for a demonstration. This helps ensure you are the same and you can tweak the look if not.
  2. When in doubt bring everything! Sometimes a designer will add a last minute change and you must be prepared. This means all heat stylers (blowdryer, flat irons, crimpers and array of curling irons sizes), every clip, gripper bobby, hair pins, wave clamp, etc.
  3. Don’t forget about bringing a diverse range of high performance products (Carreon uses Eufora Style.) They are every bit as important as any tool in your kit. You have to be prepared to deal with all hair types, fluctuating temperatures that can impact hold (air conditioning and heating) and reworking hairstyles from the previous runway show the model just came from. The right styling product will allow you to master any of these conditions.
  4. Look great. While you’re not on the runway, media will be backstage previewing the looks. You could end up in behind-the-scenes photos or asked to do an interview. Make sure your hair is styled and you are wearing makeup to ensure a flawless photo if a photographer snaps a surprise shot of you. Dress in the vein of the collection but don't overdo it.
  5. Remember you are part of a Hairdressing Team. Work hard and help anyone that needs you. Put your ego in your back pocket and let your talent and work do the PR. Fashion Week is a big shot in the arm.
