Jeni (@jeni_does_ham) calls this beautiful color correction “Violet Moon.” She is a salon owner in Eugene, OR, a color specialist and self-described ‘Magic Believer.”  This #hairdressermagic was achieved with some hairdresser smarts and the proper formulation.

“The pics on the left is what this beauty came in with six  months ago,” says Jeni. “Spots. Banding. Uneven color. Compromised hair. I lifted as many spots and bands out on her first appointment and got her to a more even canvas and toned to a 7/8 caramel colormelt. Yesterday, she said she wanted to do smokey violets. There was still some banding so I lifted as much out as I could. Since the integrity of her hair was of utmost importance, I didn't get her lifted as high as I wanted since her hair was still fragile. Then I toned using the formula (below).”

Formula:

Step one: Prelightened with Kenra Professional Simply Blonde and 30 volume.

Step two:  5B+4B+a dot of 4RR+blue booster on her transition area.

Step three: On the rest of the hair, used 7SM+8SM+7VM+9VM+Violet booster+ a dot of blue booster.

“I initially thought the formula was too dark, so I added clear. Then I realized the formula was perfect the first time around so I added more Violet booster. Oh the life of a colorist. It can be trial and error a lot of times! As always, I use Brazilian Bond Builder in my formulas.”
