Wella's Charity Challenge: Helping Those Who Help OutWhen it comes to giving back, salons are brimming with great ideas, but too often they lack the seed money to get things rolling. To help those who want to help out, Wella, the salon professional division of P&G, is kicking off its second annual Wella “Supports Your Cause” Charity Challenge. The company will be granting a total of $43,000 to hairdressers and salon owners who demonstrate—through a video competition—compelling dedication to community outreach programs.

The grants range between $1,000 and $10,000 and will help salons put on fundraisers, mount cut-a-thons, launch educational programs or benefit the salon’s charity of choice in their local communities. Salon owners and hairdressers will be eligible to submit entries now through April 1, 2014, and winners will be announced June 2014.

The Wella “Supports Your Cause” Charity Challenge is part of Wella’s Hairdressers at Heart program, which provides lifetime career support at four critical stages of a hairdresser’s career: student, new talent, working hairdresser and salon owner. Aimed to help hairdressers and salon owners amplify their contributions to charity within their local communities, the first annual Charity Challenge awarded a total of $43,000 in grants to salons whose fundraising efforts support causes such as heart disease research, domestic abuse shelters and autism awareness.
