CHOCOLATE AND RED VELVET: Formula and How-To

Mirella Manelli Hullum, Salon Manager at Ulta Salon in Lake Forest, CA, shared her red velvet finish and formula with us, tagging us on Instagram so we couldn't miss her.

"My client wanted a darker 'reddish brown' color. Because her natural level is a 7 and her ends were a little sun bleached, I pre-glazed her hair to give her a richer tone. She loved the red violet tones too. So we added 5Rv for dimension which I thought complemented our base color of 4Br in Fusion."

FORMULA AND STEPS:

Pre-gazed hair: Redken Shades EQ gloss 06RB

For Dimension: A few regular stitch foils in a horse shoe section on top of the head using Redken Fusion 5Rv 10vol

Formula for the rest of hair: Redken Fusion 4Br 10vol in zone 1 and zone 2.  Process for 35 minutes.
