SOMBRE HOW TO: A Soft Ombre Created With BalayageWe love this balayaged ombre formula (AKA "sombre") and finish created by Zsofi from Capella Salon in Studio City, California. When her salon owner Shai Amiel shared the image with us on Instagram by tagging @modernsalon and using our hashtag #hairdressermagic, we knew we had to track down the steps for you!

"Our salon loves the whole ombré trend," Amiel says. "We've become quite the ombré salon!"

Here's how Zsofi created the look for her client whose natural hair is Level 5, and pulls warmth without any gray:

"To contour her face I used Schwarzkopf Professional Igora Royal 8.1 with 20-volume (ash) as a base in 1-inch sections," Zsofi says. "The rest is 30g 7.1 + 5g 0.11 + 35g 20-volume. Her highlights are created with Schwarzkopf Professional Igora Vario Blond Extra Power Bleach with 30-volume developer. First, her tips are lightened after using the teasing technique created through backcombing softly to the root. After that, I balayaged blonde pieces to soften the ombre look. The whole head was toned with Redken Shades EQ 2oz 9V + 2oz clear + 4oz EQ Solution processed for 20 minutes."
