Wella Top Artist and educator Alexandra Matiz finds inspiration wherever she looks, including the frost on her windshield, but recently she has been focusing on pearls and oysters and the way they reflect iridescent pastel tones when the sun hits them, she says. “When I designed this color technique I wanted to mimic the blending of the colors seen in these beautiful naturally light, cool and pastel shades.

THE TECHNIQUE

Using all Wella Professionals color, Matiz applied Blondor Soft Cream for the double process and then toned with Illumina Color. Dimension was added with two alternating formulas placed within panels throughout the hair.

Toner: 2 parts 10/ + 1 part 10/69, all blended with 2 parts Pastel Developer.

Formula 1: Koleston Perfect .10 oz 12/96 + .02 oz 0/65 + 1oz of Pastel Developer.

Formula 2: Koleston Perfect .10 oz 12/96 + .04 oz 0/65 + .04 oz 0/66 with .80 oz Pastel Developer.
