THE EVENT: The Makeup Show Chicago on June 7-8, 2014 at the Bridgeport Art Center, Chicago

THE DETAILS: In its fourth year, The Makeup Show hosted more than 3,500 professional make-up artists, buyers, industry educators, press and retailers as well as more than 65 beauty brands. The show is owned and produced by Metropolitan Event and Production and tours Los Angeles, New York City, Dallas and Orlando in addition to Chicago. MAKE UP FOR EVER, Crown Brush, Temptu PRO, NARS, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, Pinnacle Cosmetics, The Powder Group and On Makeup Magazine were all sponsors of the show.

WHAT’S NEW: This year featured the debut of The Makeup Show’s Career Fair, which gave 100 attendees the opportunity for face-to-face interviews and career tips from experts and the chance to meet with potential employers. Also new was the Artist Kit Building Series—an opportunity for attendees to compare and contrast products from the same category by testing them out.

BIG NAMES: Keynote speakers included Renny Vasquez, artist for Brandy, Kelly Rowland, Gabrielle Union and more; Pati Dubroff, artist for Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman, Miley Cyrus and more; Ricky Wilson, artist for Dior, Marchesa and Betsey Johnson; a panel of Face Off artists Anthony Kosar, Meagan Hester and Nix Herrera; and more.

LAUNCHES: Notable launches were Dual-Intensity Eye Shadow from NARS, a fresh fall Trend Forecast Eye Palette from MAC and Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics’ Stained Gloss summer collection, Dune Generation.
