MODERN Director of Education Jamie Carroll is facilitating a limited-attendance, hands-on master class on Sat., May 31 from 2-5 p.m. in room W230A. The workshop is called "Fashion Meets Couture," and he will show 10 styles that are quick and trendy and can be used in the salon the very next day.

Bring a tail comb/brush, flat brush, 3-in. bobby pins, rubber bands, workable hairspray, pen and paper for this hands-on workshop. Mannequin is provided, as well as a certificate of completion.

Carroll is also the international creative director for Visage Advanced Hair Academy and is recognized as one of the industry's leading educators, stylists and salon owners. He is the recipient of the Global Business Award, an eight-time NAHA judge, winner of the Australian IMAGE styling award and has been honored with the Ordre de la Chevalerie Knight Award from Intercoiffure Mondial. Color Zoom 101: Every year, Goldwell releases a trend collection that is used as the inspiration for its annual haircolor and style competition, Color Zoom. Across the globe, Color Zoom starts on a national level. Beauty pros compete in three categories— Creative Colorist, New Talent Colorist, Partner Colorist—by submitting a photo of their interpretation of the trend. Once the Gold winners of each category are determined on a national level, they go on to compete internationally on behalf of their respective countries during a live recreation of the look on their model—including the hair color—in front of a judging panel and audience. The international leg of the competition takes place in a new city each year.
