Every other month, Ammon Carver and his salon’s creative director Manny Rolon brainstorm and moodboard a photoshoot. Some shoots focus on a style trend like braiding or classic hairdressing techniques, and others celebrate a color theme. For the most recent collaboration, Ammon Carver Studio looked to blondes in all hair types and textures.

“No matter her background or hair type, this is a celebration of going lighter and brighter and having more fun,” Carver says—yes, even in the winter.

“Even though there’s warmth to some of these blondes—the underlying pigmentation is neutral and still very appropriate for cooler months,” Carver says. “As you get into summer time, the sun will oxidize those warmer tones to make the blonde feel more sun-kissed and not as ashy. In the winter, mute down blondes or ash it out to make it more appropriate.”

The team chose a winter white wardrobe with a palette of clean, fresh makeup to be showcased in the tightly cropped photography.

L’anza Healing Color’s Cream Decolorizer was used on each model as the first step toward achieving the bright tones. Designed for all types of decolorizing, the Cream Decolorizer conditions the hair while lightening and maintaining hair’s integrity.

“One thing I’m most proud of with this collection is that with each blonde we got unbelievable bright, white tones without any discomfort,” says Carver, who is L’anza’s creative director. “This was not a torturous process for our models or colorists.”
