In this collection Matrix Artistic Director Michael Albor showcases cuts with strong perimeters and soft texture built within.

“These commercial, yet edgy, styles can easily be transformed from daytime professional to evening fun by expanding the texture within the cut,” Albor says.

As an artistic director for Matrix, Albor is a huge fan of the Style Link line to customize each look and quickly manipulate any hair texture. Whether taking hair from curly to straight by blow drying with Smooth Setter and Gloss Booster, and flat ironing with heat buffer, or defining straight fine hair into voluminous curls with Smooth Setter, it’s all about freedom.

“I was also inspired by the way solid, rich bold colors can give power and strength to any shape,” says Albor, who used Matrix Color Sync and SoColor for the shades. “We glossed our darkest brown with Color Sync clear, and Color Sync 6RC+ with SoBoost Red to create vibrant reds, and our Color Sync 6WN to create a lustrous beige-caramel brown. Our platinum was lifted with Light Master and toned with Color Sync SPV, which is one of my favorite toners for its ability to discard unwanted tones yet leave a soft sandy tonality.”
