The American Crew All-Star Challenge highlights the outstanding world class talents in men’s grooming. The competition combines the art and science of men’s grooming and creating authentic style – the cut, the model and the photograph – to deliver the ultimate interpretation of the American Crew man.

Fifteen finalists recently competed in Brussels with two days of competition photo shoots on May 4 and 5, during which each cut and styled their model, then worked with American Crew Founder David Raccuglia to shoot and select the photo that would represent their final look. Adam Mir of the UK was announced as the American Crew 2016-2017 All-Star Challenge Global Winner on May 8th in a joint event with Revlon Style Masters.

Meet the German finalist, Sabine Pösl:

Describe your professional career path.

The first hairdressing experience I had was at six years old when I cut my mother’s hair (with her guidance) and I washed customers’ hair while standing on a garbage bin. Then in 2000, I started hairdressing school and continued though Master school until 2004. I also got an education in Business Administration from 2005-2007 and worked as a Vocational school teacher in 2009. For the past 13 years I have worked as a Master Hairdresser at GM Friseure and regularly take seminars and exhibitions at Munich Hair Academy, Salon International etc. to continue my education.

What do you love most about being a stylist?

My life motto is “born to style.” I just love everything about this profession. Always bringing the best out of everyone and constantly re-inventing them. Making people happy.

How has the American Crew™ brand influenced the way you view men’s grooming?

I sort of grew up with American Crew. About 17 years ago I was at a Revlon seminar in Mannheim when I was still in school. The great hairdressers from TomCo were on stage. One of them cut and styled a man’s hair in a way that fascinated me. It was so cool and yet so masculine. He used Forming Cream and called it “Bungee.” That’s when I first got to know American Crew and fell in love. From that point on “the Bungee” has been an integral part of our hairdressing every day. I’ve been an absolute fan of American Crew since then and am always impressed by their great products.

What does the American Crew™ All-Star Challenge mean to you?

I have been following the competition for a long time and have always been impressed by the precision and masculinity of the winning photos. One of my life goals is to be Germany’s best at some point.

What was your inspiration for your winning look and what American Crew™ products did you use to create it?

I was actually inspired by Elvis Presley, but I wanted to create a wilder, casual version that fits today’s spirit and represents today’s casual philosophy of life. Today not tomorrow is what counts.
