Kristin Grip (@ColorbyKristin) owner of Tease Salon, Costa Mesa, CA (@TeaseSalonOC) says her first time client sent pictures before her visit. "I assumed her roots were regrowth so I was surprised to find out while lifting her that bands of orange appeared from coloring her roots in the past. Eek!"

Here Grip shares how she managed this transformation:

Step 1: Combine backcombing and babylighting with Redken Blonde Idol and 25v. Process at room temperature for 45 minutes.

Step 2: Remove foils and apply Joico Color Intensity remover to her ends "which were dull from past toners. The result was a bright blonde that was ready for color."

Step 3: Using Pulp Riot colors, apply 'Nightfall' at the roots, 'Powder' on the mids and 'Mercury' on the ends. Process for 40 minutes and then rinse with cold water.

"She loved it."
