Maggie Mulhern | May 15, 2017 | 4:50 AM

Liz Jeffrey (@lizjeffrey) of LOUD Hair House, Windsor, Ontario, specializes in balayage and her toning formulas are always custom made in order to achieve a unique color. "Sometimes this means mixing different color lines," says Jeffrey. "I like my clients to leave with a one-of-a-kind formula."

Here, she shares the details for this one-of-a-kind makeover:

SESSION ONE:

Step 1: Balayage throughout using Wella Freelights mixed with 50 volume developer for the darker areas. For the previously lightened areas use 40 volume with Olaplex. Wrap in plastic wrap.

Step 2: Process for 40 minutes with the last 15 minutes under an infrared air processor.

Step 3: Tone root and mid shaft area with 7-1 , 0-22, 7-4 Schwarzkopf Igora Royal with equal parts 7BA Joico Lumishine blended with 10 volume developer. Tone ends with 8Ab Redken Chromatics plus 8-1, 0-22, 8-4 Igora Royal plus  9/8 and 8/38 Wella Kolestone Perfect, all blended with 10 volume developer.

SECOND SESSION:

Step 1: Balayage all hair using Wella Freelights mixed with 50 volume for any regrowth and remaining darker pieces, and 40 volume with a splash of 50 volume and Olaplex on the rest. Wrap all hair in plastic wrap.

From Foiled and Damaged To Luscious Red

Maggie Mulhern | October 1, 2017

"This client had been doing full foils for years, and her hair showed it," says Tiffinie Morton (@hairbytiffinie). "We had been working on getting her hair healthier and decided to try something new. She initially wanted to go to a warm level 5 but I talked her into trying this to ease her into being darker since she had been blonde for so long." Details here.
