People take such liberties with the Mona Lisa, the iconic painting by Leonardo da Vinci hanging in the Louvre in Paris, France.

Created in the early 1500s and refined in 1517, the priceless artwork is an oil on white Lombardy poplar panel. The model is Lisa del Giocondo, wife of Francesco del Giocondo, and the piece was commissioned to celebrate the birth of their second son.

So, how do we all feel about the liberties taken on this precious work of art? It has turned out to be a hairdressers dream come true, a model destined for a makeover. Check out some of our favorite recreations.
