Though the trend is not new, I think we can all agree that creative, fantasy, pastel hair color is not going anywhere. Every day, more and more clients are coming into the salon for these services, choosing to incorporate stunning pops of color into their style. These clients are the loyal frequenters who can help boost every salon’s business.

To invigorate the industry and harness a bigger base of salon clients, L’Oréal Professionnel has decided to take this trend to the next level. #COLORFULHAIR Semi-Permanent Hair Color contains 6 true to tone shades and 1 clear, giving the stylist infinite possibilities for creative genius. The mission of #COLORFULHAIR is to inspire more stylists to take hold of this trend and create chic, premium, personalized creative color results, grow their business, and make the world a more colorful place.

L’Oréal Professionnel has collaborated with 11 of the top creative colorists from around the world to bring the #COLORFULHAIR portfolio to life. Together in NYC, the colorists produced incredible work with different shades and techniques.

One of those top creative colorists is Shelley Gregory. Gregory, of Atelier by Square Salon in Las Vegas, was an early adopter of creative color and has built her social media following over the years, positioning herself as a #COLORFULHAIR expert. L’Oréal Professionnel partnered with Gregory to bring her expertise of this color category to hairdressers everywhere. She highlights the ease of use of the product saying, “#COLORFULHAIR leaves the hair as it would if you did an in-salon treatment. The hair feels silky and is so shiny!”  Check out @shelleygregoryhair to see her amazing work.

After collaborating with the best in the category for new and exciting visuals and techniques, L’Oréal Professionnel sought to bring you tips and tricks to recruiting both your new and existing color clients to try #COLORFULHAIR.

For a client, one of the main roadblocks to trying creative color is a misunderstanding of what goes into the service and all of its possibilities. “Creating chic, customized creative color comes from a thorough consultation and the proper placement of each color onto the hair,” says Justine Berger, Director of L’Oréal Professionnel Artist & Education Development. The consultation between stylist and client is vital to executing the perfect results for each individual and keep them coming back from more. To encourage clients to be open to the possibilities of #COLORFULHAIR, display the beautiful tubes in the front of the salon and highlight it on your color menu as a quick and easy add-on service.

To continue the conversation, talk about your client’s sense of style, work environment and personality. #COLORFULHAIR can be tailored to suit any client. How light is your client willing to go? How long does he or she want the hair color to last? All #COLORFULHAIR shades fade true to tone, but some shades take longer to shampoo from the hair than others. If your client wants their hair color to last the weekend, try the Pink Sorbet or Sunset Coral. If they are fully committed, try the blues! If you find that they are somewhere in between, go for the Hypnotic Magenta or Electric Purple. All of the colors blend beautifully together, and with the right application, look incredibly elegant.

When consulting your client on the fade of the colors, take the advice of Shelley Gregory: “You don't need to worry anymore about what the color will look like after a few shampoos,” she says, “#COLORFULHAIR fades in such a soft, even way. Tell your clients to embrace the fade!”

The #COLORFULHAIR service is quick and easy to add-on with its precision applicator cap and application onto towel-dried hair. “#COLORFULHAIR is the first creative hair color line I have used that can be applied to wet hair, which means I can easily add this on as an upgrade to my clients service without having to prolong their visit,” says Gregory. This means the #COLORFULHAIR service can be added onto an appointment the day of! You won’t have to keep your client in the chair for too long, unless they request something very intricate and detailed.

Of course, growing your business also plays heavily into retail, as does fully servicing every client from beginning to end. Without the proper at-home hair care range, no service you provide in-salon is guaranteed to last. L’Oréal Professionnel recommends a sulfate-free line – like Serie Expert Vitamino Sulfate-Free products.

With the products, inspiration, techniques and consultation guidelines from L’Oréal Professionnel, we challenge you to grow your business and unleash your creativity! When you share you work, please #lorealprous and #colorfulhair so the brand can see your incredible results.
