HOW-TO: Subtle Strobing on Blondes

In this Subtle Strobing look, the effects are placed at the eyes and cheekbones where different blonde shades create an alternated contrasting effect. They offset each other, but also gently blend together.

COLOR:

STEP 1: Section hair as shown. leaving the hair line out (approx 1”).

STEP 2: To create an illuminated effect around the eyes, start with Section 1 & take back-to-back slices applying Formula A approx 3” from the scalp to right above the mid-length. Use a foil to create a barrier underneath and cover once section is complete.

STEP 3: In Sections 2, 3 & 5, apply Formula A starting at the mid-shaft of the hair using the same strobing technique and taking back-to-back slices. Highlight only about 3” of the strand. In Section 4, apply Formula A using a Balayage technique as this will soften the look allowing you to focus on accentuating the cheekbone area. Process until you have achieved a level 9 lift. Shampoo & treat hair with Visible Repair Shampoo & In-Salon Treatment. Towel Dry.

STEP 4: Apply Formula B to the root area. Create triangular sections throughout the hair as shown and alternate from mid-shaft to ends with Formula C & D (see images). Process and treat with Color Vibrancy Shampoo and Post-Color Treatment.

STYLING:

STEP 5: On damp hair, apply Dramatize It Volumizing Mousse from roots to ends. Blow-dry the hair with a Denman brush.

STEP 6: Use a large round brush to create shine and a smooth surface.

STEP 7: Use a large curling iron to create movement. Clip the hair in place. 

STEP 8: Remove the clips and brush the hair with a flat brush to create the final result. Use Design It Creative Hairspray to give it a bouncy effortless look.
