A weathered patina forms a shiny, but also muted shimmer, allowing tones to read as matte while giving hair luminosity on the surface.

During 2017's Goldwell Color Zoom competition in Barcelona, the new trend collectioncreated by the previous year's Global Gold winners, was revealed. Elemental features tone-on-tone colors that play with contrasts, while modern, minimalistic shapes provide a primal edge.

The Elemental creative team that created the look was: Goldwell International Artists Agnes Westerman from the Netherland,  Sascha Haseloff from Germany, and the three gold 2016 Color Zoom Challenge Winners: Daniel Rubin, USA; Larissa Bresnehan, Australia; and Sargis Airapetian, Russia. Together, they created a highly innovative hair fashion collection that fuses technology with creativity.

Color Zoom has given me the opportunity to be part of an incredibly innovative and artistic team,” Rubin says. “The privilege and honor of winning and having the chance to collaborate with such great talents is a dream come true. I’m thrilled with the resulting Elemental collection.”

ELEMENTAL COLORS

The Elemental collection employs the interplay of color layering and filtering for an overall translucent feel. Muted pastels and rich earthy tones overlap and filter each other to form a variety of harmonious mineral shades that move beyond metallic. A weathered patina forms a shiny, but also muted shimmer, allowing tones to read as matte while giving hair luminosity on the surface.

ELEMENTAL SHAPES

Inspiration comes from a minimalistic approach that conveys sophistication while retaining a sense of the elemental. The key element for a precise but intuitive look is a primal foundation created by soft and jagged edges. The look is completed by handcrafted shapes that are subtly asymmetric with unexpected irregularities.

ELEMENTAL TEXTURE

The Elemental Collection is influenced by the balance between raw and refined elements. Free-form texture created by skillful styling that evokes a self-made sensation is featured. Airiness also flows into the styling, lending it a future-forward look.
