MAKEOVER: Color Melt and Babylights to Stay On-Trend

Maggie Mulhern | October 27, 2017 | 5:26 AM

Fran Peterson (@frannpeterson) of Salon Karma, Bluffton, SC wowed us with this lovely makeover. We reached out to Peterson for more details. "We wanted to go darker but wanted to stay on trend. I knew a color melt was the way to go."

Here the Matrix educator shares the process:

Step 1: Foil out babylights from the front to back of the crown using Matrix Lightmaster with 20 volume and Bond Ultim8 additive to protect the integrity of the hair.

Step 2: Apply base color using Matrix Color Sync 6n 6g equal parts 10 volume.

Step 3: Apply 8n 8g Matrix ColorSync equal parts 10 volume to mid lengths of hair.

Step 4: Apply 10g equal parts 10 volume to ends of hair.  Process for 20 minutes then rinse and shampoo.

Step 5: Tone babylights with 10g and 10 volume matrix ColorSync for 5 minutes.
