The Photoshoot Kit: See What a Cover Artist Brings to a Session

Detra Smith (@detrashalee), owner of  Hannah & Me, Moulton, AL, is a MODERN cover artist as well as an Instagram fave.  Best known for long hairstyling, the Hot Tools Artistic Director and Matrix Artistic Educator, spends a lot of time on set creating beautiful images for advertising and editorials - and credits ARTIST SESSION (MODERN's photoshoot workshop) for helping to develop her skills and teaching her the tips and tricks used to make a beautiful image.

Smith was on set this week creating a fresh look for an upcoming issue and we were so impressed with her "set up" that we asked her to take us on a tour.

Industry Mourns Gino Trunzo

MODERN and the industry mourns the loss of Gino Trunzo who died yesterday in Mexico of a heart attack. Trunzo made a name for himself in the nail world as both a manicurist and essie’s Assistant Vice President and was named assistant vice president of business development for Redken and Pureology earlier this year.
