At the recent Sexy Hair global conference in Marina Del Rey, CA (January 15-16, 2018), hairdressers from North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia gathered to share inspiration, celebrate a successful year, and to learn how to exert their artistic influence in their salon and on social media.

“The whole theme is about how to be an influencer and we geared to it both our stylist community and to our distributor partners,” explained Stephanie Polansky, director of education and shows at Sexy Hair. “We had classes from social media superstars who, surprisingly, don’t like to be called influencers.  Their stories are so inspirational because their goal was to create better lives for themselves and their families and they realized social media could make that happen.”

In addition to increasing their social savvy, there was plenty of hands-on education and unique product knowledge through “experience rooms,” where stylists were introduced to products and encouraged to play with them on mannequins.  Some experience rooms also presented business-building topics.

Sexy Hair’s “Opposing Forces” Collection of cuts and styles was introduced and Sexy Hair Global Artistic Director Rafe Hardy oversaw a team of educators.

“This is a nice complete collection that offers so many opportunities for the stylist to learn techniques, including barbering, and pushes them to incorporate texture and to play with tools and products in new ways,” Hardy says. “When our educators walk out that door, they are ready with all they need to pass along their knowledge.”
