The Vidal Sassoon Professional Beauty Education “Basic” Scholarship Competition is now open. From now through April 10, the Beauty Changes Live Foundation and Wella’s Hairdressers at Heart are accepting student applications for the chance to win financial assistance and professional exposure. Honoring the legacy of Vidal Sassoon, the scholarship competition is open to cosmetology students who are currently enrolled in an American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) member school in the U.S. or Canada.

Introduced six years ago, the Vidal Sassoon Professional Beauty Education Basic Scholarship Competition will award students up to $7,000 in tuition scholarships. Beyond the tuition gift, students will receive exposure in professional beauty media outlets.

Basic scholarship applicants must submit a YouTube video link answering the question, “Why is beauty your passion and how will your career in beauty fulfill your purpose?” Details for applying and examples of previous winners’ video applications may be viewed here.

As the first ongoing scholarship program offered by the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation, the Vidal Sassoon Professional Beauty Education Basic Scholarship celebrates Vidal Sassoon’s conviction that education is a lifelong journey. “Six years ago, Wella’s Hairdressers at Heart funded an initiative that reflects their belief that lifelong learning is the defining common element in long-term success as a beauty professional,” said Lynelle Lynch, President of the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation. “Since the inception of this program, Wella’s generosity has helped accelerate the careers of hairstylists across the nation.”

Added Sal Mauceri, senior vice president North Wmerican Coty Professional Beauty and Global OPI, “A strong education is the foundation to success, and we are proud to empower the future stars of our industry through Vidal Sassoon’s namesake scholarship.” Winners of the Vidal Sassoon Professional Beauty Education Scholarship are selected by a panel of industry judges who consider applicants’ passion for the craft of hairstyling and their vision for using a career in beauty to change lives.

MORE WAYS TO SUPPORT BCL: The 6th Annual Beauty Changes Lives Experience will return to the Art Institute of Chicago April 29, as the signature philanthropic event at America’s Beauty Show by Cosmetologists Chicago.

The evening will bring together the entire professional beauty industry to celebrate those who have given back, as well as those who will lead the future. The evening is a primary fund-raiser for the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation (BCL), which has helped hundreds of salon professionals successfully begin their careers through scholarships.

The events theme was developed by Pivot Point International, the creative force behind the entire event. It will explore the realm where superficiality and commercialism are discarded and the deep, true essence of a brand and what it stands for are divulged.
