Most viral post: My most viral post is definitely of a balayage I did on my sister-in-law last fall. The colors in her hair were so beautiful and almost earthy looking.

Favorite apps: FaceTune to blur out the background. PhotoGrid to add my watermark and crop down to the exact size needed to fit on IG. Pic Splitter to showcase balayage on a bigger scale, rather than the standard thumbnail view.

Favorite hashtags: #modernsalon, #brunettebalayage #blondebalayage

I follow: Man I count all the girls at @salt.hair as one?. I also ADORE @braidedandblonde, @camouflageandbalayage, @catherinelovescolor, and @kristen.lumiere….and, not meaning to be a rule breaker, but I can’t leave out @laurenfranceshair who has the best “teasey” light online tutorial I’ve found.

Pro tips: Take your picture in good lighting that will give you the most accurate image of your work. Engage with the comments. I love talking with people, sharing ideas and tricks, and most importantly being grateful for their kind words that they took the time to leave on my feed. This has helped me tremendously with engagement while at the same time building great relationships!! Who can ask for more?

Hidden talent (beauty-related): I’m not so sure I’d call this a “hidden talent,” but I do love creating really pretty flat iron curls.

Hidden talent: I love spunky hobbies. I love to snowboard, and I’ve just started taking drum lessons, which makes me feel younger than I am.

How social media changed my life: Social media has completely changed everything for me. When I started back at the salon, I’d never even heard of balayage. If it wasn’t for Instagram, I would have never found the online courses that have shaped my work into what it is today, I wouldn’t have half of my beautiful clients, and I wouldn’t have made so many amazing connections and friendships that have helped and supported me along the way.

The first time I was featured on MODERN’s Insta: The first time I was ever featured on Modern Salon was November 6th, 2017. It was a Monday evening, and I remember picking up my phone, seeing the notification, and staring blankly at the screen for a minute or so thinking I must have been reading it wrong. I didn’t believe it until I actually had my husband pull it up on his own phone to make sure it was really on the page. Then I cried and took a dozen screen shots, saved it, shared it....then, the next day, I actually received a second feature AND a “follow” that was even harder for me to believe. I went into complete denial and almost messaged Modern Salon to let them know they accidentally featured me twice in two days, just in case they didn’t mean to. My husband lovingly told me to snap out of it, then it sunk in and I cried again. I was so honored.
