The 2018 Emmys were filled with TV's biggest stars. Here are some of our favorite looks and how to recreate them.

Alexis Bledel

“Tonight, Alexis was wearing a beautifully colored yet whimsical gown by Delpozo," says stylist Craig Gangi. "The dress made such a strong statement on its own, I decided to keep hair polished and sleek yet modern.”

To create this look apply Matrix StyleLink Smooth Setter Cream to damp hair. Then use a medium round brush to blow dry hair smooth, while pulling the roots of hair in opposite direction to create slight lift on top of the head. You want the sides to lie flat, so pull the hair downward after it has been blow-dried. Once hair was dry, use a flat iron to straighten, and spray each section with Matrix StyleLink Heat Buffer Spray which creates that smooth shiny finish and also protects the hair from heat. After the hair is ironed, create a deep side part and flatten it behind the ears. To complete this look, spray Matrix StyleLink Volume Fixer on the hairstyle, which will hold the hair in place all night yet still allow for some natural movement.

Kristen Bell

“Sometimes the simplest looks take the most prep work," says stylist Christine Symonds. "For Kristen’s look tonight, we were inspired by Carolyn Bessette and her simple elegance. We wanted to keep the hair clean and minimal but had to make sure it had the right shape and foundation."

To maintain a straight (not greasy) look preprep the hair with Biolage Styling Whipped Volume Mousse in the roots and Biolage Styling Blowdry Glotion at the ends. Then blow dry the hair with a round brush and set the hair in the direction away from her face to make sure the hair is smooth when pulled back and to eliminate flyaways. Pin away a 4-inch-wide and 2-inch-deep section at top of the forehead. Pull back the remainder of the hair in to a taught pony tail with a boar bristle brush at ear level and secure with a bungee. Spray Biolage Styling Complete Control Hairspray to make sure the sides and ponytail stay in place. Gently comb back the section to include it in to the ponytail. Leave the ever so slight volume on top so it won't look slicked to the head. Take the ponytail and wrap in to a bun and secure with bobby pins. Leave ends out for an undone look or secure them in for a modern clean look. Spray a veil of Biolage Styling Freeze Fix Hairspray to secure the look in place all night.

Jessica Biel

Emmy-nominated actress Jessica Biel mesmerized the red carpet with her ethereal style created by celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel using Virtue and Ghd products. "I was inspired by the Pre-Raphaelite era, in which young women considered their delicate long locks their glory and conveyed the ultimate femininity through its soft, romantic texture,” says Abergel. The look centered around healthy, shiny long hair with a sharp center part.

To create the look, Abergel started with Virtue Full Shampoo and Virtue Recovery Conditioner. He then prepped the hair with with the Virtue One For All 6-in-1 Styler to achieve a smooth texture, as well as heat protection. He followed with several golf-ball-sized pumps of Virtue Moisture Defining Whip and applied from roots to ends.
Abergel used the Ghd Air Hairdryer to blow dry Jessica’s hair with a round brush for a smooth finish. To create the soft wave pattern, Abergel used the Ghd Platinum+ Styler and oscillated the tool back and forth. He used a bit of the  Virtue Refresh Dry Shampoo at the ends to create more volume through the bottom of the look. To finish, Abergel tucked Jessica’s hair behind her ear, and locked the style with Virtue Finale Shaping Spray for hold and added shine.

Evan Rachel Wood

"Evan Rachel Wood's dark suit, perfect skin and bold lip inspired this soft chignon decorated with fresh flowers," says stylist John D. "I wanted her to walk down the red carpet looking like a gorgeous renaissance painting."

To begin, prep the clean, damp hair using a styling mousse applied to the roots and combed through. Then use the Ghd Ceramic Vented Radial Brush Size 3 to build softness and volume. Next, section the hair behind the ear on both sides, leaving the front section out. Use the Ghd Curve Classic Curl iron to create an S-Shaped finger wave pattern, and clip it into place to allow it to cool. For the remaining hair in the back, use the new Ghd Platinum+ styler to create soft flat iron waves. Pin the hair at the back of the head to create a foundation for the twisted chignon, and continue to style by twisting the hair and pinning it into place. Remove the clips at the front to frame the face, and pull back the hair to blend into the updo. To finish, add some seasonal fresh flowers to create a Renaissance feel.

Thandie Newton

Inspired by the idea of timeless glamour, celebrity stylist Sheridan Ward created a sleek, low chignon by blending classic decadence with a generous splash of modernity. Apply 3-5 drops of any Oribe Power Drop Booster to damp hair from mid-lengths to ends. Take a small amount of Oribe Gel Serum and apply throughout the hair in sections. Blow dry smooth. Run a bit of Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil through each section, and flat iron to achieve a mirror-like shine. Pump up the volume with a blast of Dry Texturizing Spray all over. Divide hair into a middle part, then secure into a sleek low ponytail. Twist into a chignon and secure. Finish with Shine Light Reflecting Spray and a gentle spritz of Superfine Hair Spray.

Vanessa Kirby

Actress Vanessa Kirby's polished and sculpted hairstyle was created by Moroccanoil celebrity hairstylist Bryce Scarlett. "Tonight’s look was inspired by Vanessa’s Tom Ford pale pink gown," said Scarlett. "Her silk column dress was elegant and sleek, and we wanted to make sure that her hair felt very sophisticated and polished to go with her gorgeous dress.”

On damp hair, use a dime size amount of Moroccanoil Treatment Light to provide the perfect foundation for styling. Next apply, Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse at the roots of the hair and Morccocanoil Blow Dry Concentrate at the ends to create a smooth and polished blowout. Blow out the hair using the Moroccanoil Professional Ceramic Hair Dryer. For maximum volume, use a Moroccanoil 45 MM Boar Bristle Round Brush, wrapping the hair around the head and blow dry in each direction to give a smooth, sleek blow out. Finish the blow out with a deep side part. Next, take hair into big sections and loosely curl the hair with a 1 ¼” curling iron to create subtle body waves. Then, spray Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray throughout the hair while back combing the roots to create a sculpted voluminous hold. Lastly, spray hair with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Medium to finish the look.

Issa Rae

This three-dimensional twisted bun was created by Felicia Leatherwood to complement Rae's Vera Wang gown. To begin, Felicia applied the Living Proof's No Frizz Leave-In Conditioner directly on Issa’s wet hair and massaged it into each hair strand. Next, she lightly blew out the hair using warm heat, giving it a sleek and smooth look while also protecting it from the heat with Restore Smooth Blowout Concentrate. For the bun, Felicia first created a smooth ponytail, then divided the strands into six sections. To keep the frizz down, she took a generous amount of No Frizz Nourishing Oil mixed with the No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream to each palm, then began lightly twisting the sections into loose curls, securing each strand with a closed pin. Felicia followed the natural flow of Issa’s hair for each section, lightly weaving and pinning each piece at the base of her head to create that three-dimensional bun. To finish the look, Felicia secured the flyaways with he Style Lab Flex Hairspray and pinned back any loose strands with open pins to make sure the look would hold.
