Jan Hillenmeyer | October 31, 2012 | 9:33 AM

On October 22, 2012, Cosmetologists Chicago held its annual business meeting at which it installed its new board of directors and officers. The board is comprised of salon professionals who volunteer their time to develop and direct the services that the association provides to its more than 7,000 members, including education, legislative representation, technology, networking, and scholarships.

The board’s most important responsibility is the oversight and leadership of all facets of America’s Beauty Show, which is held in Chicago and attracts more than 60,000 salon professionals, manufacturers, students, distributors and educators.

Joseph Cartegena of Genacelli in Chicago was named president of the board of directors for the 2012-2014 term.  Newly installed board members include:

1st Vice President: Denise Provenzano,  Zano Salons & Spa, Naperville, Illinois.

2nd Vice President: Larry Silvestri, Mario Tricoci Hair Salons & Day Spa, Chicago.

Secretary: Robert Passage, Pivot Point International, Evanston, Illinois.

Treasurer: Karen Gordon, J. Gordon Designs, Chicago.

Immediate Past President: Frank Gironda, Frank Gironda Salon & Day Spa, Wheaton, Illinois.

Bonnie Canavino:  Red Cherry Group, Downers Grove, Illinois.

Kathy Jager:  Pro’s Salon, Oak Forest, Illinois.

Debra Jargstorf:  Empire Education Group, Prospect Heights, Illinois.

Rosa Palmeri: Trio Evanston, Evanston, Illinois.

“Cosmetologists Chicago is a forward-thinking, action-oriented network with an unlimited future,” said Cartagena. “We have a winning team with dedicated, highly motivated officers and directors who will lead the organization into years of growth—for our members, salons and our America’s Beauty Show.

“I am thrilled that Joseph Cartegena will succeed me as president of CC,” said Gironda. “He is a real hairdresser’s hairdresser and will do great things for this association.”

The 2013 America’s Beauty Show, owned and produced by CC, will be held March 9-11 at McCormick Place in Chicago.

Everything You Need to Know About the Goldwell Color Zoom Competition

Alison Alhamed | October 1, 2017

Color Zoom 101: Every year, Goldwell releases a trend collection that is used as the inspiration for its annual haircolor and style competition, Color Zoom. Across the globe, Color Zoom starts on a national level. Beauty pros compete in three categories— Creative Colorist, New Talent Colorist, Partner Colorist—by submitting a photo of their interpretation of the trend. Once the Gold winners of each category are determined on a national level, they go on to compete internationally on behalf of their respective countries during a live recreation of the look on their model—including the hair color—in front of a judging panel and audience. The international leg of the competition takes place in a new city each year.
