Creating beautiful, teasy highlights takes mad skill. From sectioning and formulating to application and processing, being a colorist means creating works of art.

Caroline Guiney is a Los Angeles colorist with jaw-dropping talent. Her @caroline.anythingbutbasic Instagram page is filled with tutorials demonstrating how to achieve the ultimate color results. We put her skills to the test using WetBrush's new Pro Collection. The results? Guiney showed us what a lifesaver the WetBrush Pro Detangler can be when combing out backcombed highlights.

Taking cues from the professionals, WetBrush’s new Pro Collection combines elements of its signature brushes with upgraded designs. The collection includes the Pro Detangler, Pro Backbar Detangler, Pro Paddle Detangler, Pro Detangling Comb and Pro Shine Enhancer. New to this collection is the ergonomically advanced design, which includes finger rests and a rubberized grip handle for comfort and control, even at the bowl when hands are wet.

"This brush minimizes pain, split ends and breakage caused by brushing," Guiney says. "I only recommend these brushes to my clients."

"To create this look I used Redken Flash Lift with Bonder inside and 15 volume incubated in diagonal back foils," she says. "To create a more diffused and dimensional look, I backcombed some sections before foiling them. I then washed and conditioner with Redken magnetics.

"Then I began combing out the backcombed sections by using The WetBrush Pro Detangler, vertically starting at the bottom of the hair and working my way toward the roots.  Once the hair was completely detangled I root shadowed and toned the hair."
