English Garden: Volume, Texture, Waves and Glam in Olivia Garden's Newest Collection

While conceptualizing the latest collection for Olivia Garden, session stylist Steve Elias was inspired by the brand’s name.

“It’s too simplistic to say, ‘Let me create a garden-inspired collection because your brand is called Olivia Garden,’” Elias says. “It’s a lot more nuanced than that. Using Olivia Garden tools for the last three years on collections and editorial work has allowed me to push my creative work further.”

The collection, which features voluminous silhouettes and floral-infused backdrops, started taking shape about a year ago.

“I wanted to honor the brand with this set of images—an homage to them, our own little English Garden,” Elias says. “It’s no secret I love big hair, and there’s plenty of that here. However, I also played with defined roller sets, pin curls, updos and bouffants.”

As Elias moodboarded out the collections, he approached it as a creative collaboration, as all the masters do, among the fashion, makeup, photography and detailing.

“Sometimes these details get overlooked by hairdressers creating their first images for collection or session work,” Elias says. “I wanted the clothes to be refined and polished, marrying that with the amazing set work created by our floral designer. I’d like to think we created something magical, our little secret garden.”
