On May 6th, one of the biggest nights in fashion took place with the 71st Annual Met Gala. The theme of this year’s exhibit was “Camp: Notes on Fashion” inspired by Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay that defines camp as “love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration.” Hollywood starlet Emma Stone stunned on the red carpet with a style by celebrity stylist Mara Roszak.  The pulled-back side echoed the detail on her jumpsuit and her organic, soft wave pattern contrasted with the disco-ball quality of her wardrobe.

“Emma wore a gorgeous custom Louis Vuitton jumpsuit that felt like an 80’s dream!" Roszak says. "I wanted to create a side swept textured style accentuating her natural waves.”

GET THE LOOK:

  •  Start with damp hair, apply Biolage Airdry Glotion throughout and diffuse hair until it’s dry
  • With a 3/4 curling iron, add texture to the hair by waving random sections of the hair to touch up curls, creating a natural bend
  • To finish the look, spray Biolage Thermal Active Spray to set the hair to hold throughout the night

The Met Gala, formally called the Costume Institute Gala and also known as the Met Ball, is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City. It marks the opening of the Costume Institute's annual fashion exhibit. Each year's event celebrates the theme of that year's Costume Institute exhibition, and the exhibition sets the tone for the formal dress of the night, since guests are expected to choose their fashion to match the theme of the exhibit.
