Fashion's biggest night out, the Met Gala, is an annual fundraising event to benefit the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. Each year, a different theme is set and the glitterati bring it on the red carpet for all their worth.
At this year's Met Gala, “camp” was the theme and not summer camp but outrageous, over-the-top and extravagant. Emily Blunt went gold, wearing a gold sequin-covered dress and bespoke gold headdress.
Hairstylist Laini Reeves@laini_reeves was inspired by the wet hair look on the runway from Michael Kors, and her own interpretation of camp, which for her evoked the 1970s, Studio 54, Lee Bowery meets Grace Jones with Cher vibes.
- Laini created a super wet and undone textured look for Emily.
- After Emily’s hair was washed, Laini lightly blew her hair using the Neuro Halo Dryer then mixed together Paul Mitchell Flexible Style Sculpting Cream, Paul Mitchell INVISIBLEWEAR Velvet Cream and Paul Mitchell Firm Style Super Clean Sculpting Gel and worked it into Emily’s damp hair.
- Using her fingers, Laini scraped Emily’s hair into an undone textured ballerina knot at the base of her neck.
- As a final touch, Emily put on a Stephen Jones Head Dress featuring gold sparkles complementing the glow of her Michael Kors gown.
