FASHION WEEK: A Star Rises: Make Up Artist Kelly Thompson

Maggie Mulhern | February 15, 2013 | 9:25 AM

Kelly (Hanna) Thompson has had quite a journey in the beauty world. She began as a nail artist then switched to hair before migrating to make up. Admittedly, she is a "triple threat".

Modern kept bumping in to her during FASHION WEEK and each time we were thrilled to be part of her world which transcended talent...and all about enthusiasm, joy, patience, leadership...all qualities that make her a delight to be around and a real star not just at fashion week, but in life. Now as the lead artist for Kryolan, Kelly was creating some of the most beautiful finishes for the fall/winter 2013 collections.

Ok, this is a bit self-serving, but it didn't hurt that she said...excuse me YELLED..."Modern Salon is by far the best resource for this profession. I really appreciate how your business and HOW TO articles raise up the beauty industry. Modern Salon is literally one of my favorite magazines. The September 2012 issue changed my life. I LOVED the pinks, purples and platinum color feature."

In these three videos you get to see what she has done at Joanna Mastroianni and Falguni & Shane Peacock. In a bonus video, Kelly succumbs to our request to show what she wears to be a lead artist backstage at fashion week.
