Modern Salon

June 2015

It's a good time to be a groomer! Men are spending more time in front of the mirror, returning to the salon more frequently, and are using more professional hair product now than ever before. In fact, it's not uncommon to overhear men in a conversation about what hair products they're using-even asking for blow dryer recommendations.

"There is no longer that cookie-cutter hairstyle just like there is no longer a cookie-cutter suit," says our cover artist, Rocky Vitelli of Farouk Systems. "It's okay for a man today to want to be fashionable and to have as much freedom with his hairstyle as with his fashion."

That's what the June issue of MODERN SALON is all about: celebrating your new favorite client-men. In Modern Man, learn how to pick the perfect product for your clients' hair and when to choose a wax, pomade, gel or paste. In Bad Boys, see pompadours and masculine looks inspired by greasers and '60s screen stars. And be sure to check out the Men's Hairstylist of the Year finalists of 2015's North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) in our annual celebration of the photographic competition. MODERN, along with the Professional Beauty Association and the talented finalists in this year's competition, will be eagerly awaiting the winners' announcement live from the awards show in Las Vegas, July 12, 2015.
