As a hairdresser who came up in the ’80s, Daniel Keane has always loved big hair. “Really, in some cases you just can’t get big enough,” says Keane, owner of Serenza Salon & Spa in Burien, Washington. Keane created this look at the most recent Artist Session, MODERN SALON’s two-day photoshoot workshop. “My motivation was to have a model with lots of hair that I could add colorful extensions to.”

Using extensions that had been colored with vibrant shades, Keane placed them throughout the hair to create dimension and depth. To create maximum volume and texture, Keane, who is a Hot Tools educator, used the Hot Tools Black Gold tapered curl wand. “By using so many of the tools available to professional stylists, I was able to create exactly what I had envisioned and storyboarded.”
