With a combination of social media feeds, 24/7 paparazzi, magazines, TV and ads, every moment is inundated with images, articles and galleries of what the next “it look” will be, what he or she wore on the red carpet, must-have beauty products and trend predictions.

The frequency of these beauty alerts has increased, but the forecasting is nothing new. What is new, however, is that clients can embrace those trends in a way that works for his or her lifestyle—and sometimes that’s a temporary change.

When we began selecting collections to feature in this issue, we considered photoshoots that best told the story of trend adaptation. On page 108, the Schwarzkopf Professional team takes inspiration from fashion and makeup, like layering and highlighting, and adapts the trends for haircolor. On page 114, Sexy Hair artists Rafe Hardy and Nadirah Volpe interpret the braiding buzz into every day, consumer-friendly styles. On page 118, and our cover, HairUWear artists use clip-in extensions, add a touch of customization and completely makeover our model with three looks: Victoria’s Secret-inspired waves, a lob with a touch of pixelation and a faux-locks upstyle.

What’s hot today might not be tomorrow, but one thing remains constant: Your clients are tuned in to what’s happening in beauty now more than ever before. Make sure you’re prepared to offer your clients options for today’s trends—however fleeting they might be.
