Q&A: HairArt Extensions

Mission & Message

"Beautiful hair is easy. HairArt promises to provide the highest quality human hair to anyone who wishes to look their best. Salon owners and stylists can offer compelling products to create versatile looks that improve their clients’ confidence."

When and why did HairArt get involved in enhancements and wigs?

HairArt Founder and President Jackie Yu was exposed to the beauty industry as early as 1935 when his father began exporting hair nets to the U.S. and Europe. Yu moved from Hong Kong to LA in 1976 and started a HairArt Hair Replacement Center in Hollywood about two years later once they felt they were familiar with the U.S. market and American culture. In 1990, HairArt started collecting European hair and today has the largest inventory in the world. The hair supply is depleting quickly since then, and demand has increased dramatically as more people have become aware of their ability to improve their appearance in a way that still looks natural. We currently own three non-surgical hair replacement salons in Los Angeles and a National Hair Center in Phoenix.

What education does HairArt provide?

We offer a variety of training and classes in relation to our products. Those include the following: two-day classes focusing on sales, consultation, mold, hair type, density, attachments, styling and color; one or two weeks in-salon training, working along with our stylist on actual clients; on-day classes or online training for hair extensions, custom wigs and hair pieces.

What charitable efforts is HairArt involved in?

Since 2007, HairArt has been donating 10 percent of the sales of our H3000 pink flatirons, blowdryers and brush collection to the American Cancer Society. And as far back as 1985, we have donated free or at-cost custom wigs to low-income families who have children with alopecia areata. We also donate wigs or sell them at cost to Wigs 4 Kids and Locks of Love.

What products create the most buzz?

The hair-extension industry is growing quickly and has become one of the most profitable services for salons. Invisi-Tab uses 100-percent virgin European hair for its tape-in extensions, catering to high-end clients. House of European Hair provides hair pieces, wigs and hair extensions from 100-percent virgin European hair. Pieces are custom-ordered for every client.
