Chagrin Falls, Ohio, is a picturesque little town outside Cleveland
that surrounds the beautiful natural waterfall on the Chagrin River.
Chagrin Falls is also home to the Aquage headquarters and the new photo
and video studio created by Luis Alvarez. MODERN SALON editor Maggie
Mulhern and Alvarez conducted the very first shoot at the studio in
early January. The 50-by-30-foot studio is designed for both video and
still photography, with lights suspended from the ceiling.
In this exclusive shoot for MODERN SALON, Luis Alvarez was inspired by
his two favorite beauty events—the Academy Awards in Hollywood and
America’s Beauty Show in Chicago. Alvarez, who is a
photographer as well as a hairdresser, has an eye for shapes, which he
cultivated carefully on his red-hot models in this collection, titled
“Mood Swing.”
This year, NAHA 2010 will induct entrepreneur and founder of the Aveda

and will recognize internationally renowned hair color specialist,

Award.

“Nothing says ‘pretty’ and ‘romantic’ the way pink does,” says Suzi
