Lone Star College-North Harris and Farouk Systems will hold a grand opening celebration for the recently-expanded CHI Lone Star College-North Harris School of Cosmetology on Friday, Dec. 6, at 10 a.m. The event will take place at the new facility, located at 910 E. Richey Road in Houston.

I had the opportunity to interview the manager of general affairs at the Yamano Beauty College to learn about what it's like to be a beauty school student in Japan. How much it costs, what the day to day is like, how long it takes, and more. I asked him about the male to female ratio in hairdressing (you may be surprised at his answer!) and about what kind of living a hairdresser can expert to earn in his or her career. As a school owner, parents would slip in that hairdressing was a perfect answer because their daughter/son had no business mind. I would gaze into the young person’s eyes and see passion.
When you chose beauty as a career, you went to school and earned a license. You paid your dues before earning your first chair. You grew your skills, book and confidence with advanced education. Today, you follow your passion. You get to be creative and help people. You do good work and good works. You are a professional.
