Being good to the Earth as well as to your clients is becoming an increasingly vital part of the salon industry. We ask an owner, distributor and manufacturer, “What is your company doing to be a good environmental steward, and how do you communicate that to your clients?”
Davines and The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation are teaming up for the second annual Sustainable Beauty Day, a proud partnership that raised over $25,000 due to the participation of 54 salons in the US and Canada last year. This year the effort aims to raise $50,000 to fund a fruit tree planting project in Brazil.

Ten schools located in cities across the country were selected today as finalists in the Global Green USA Green School Makeover Competition, presented by Pureology. Over the coming weeks, a panel of judges will evaluate the schools and select one to win a grand prize for energy efficiency and sustainability upgrades, valued at $130,000.

Pureology is presenting the Global Green USA’s Green School Makeover Competition. From March 1–September 30, 2011, a parent, teacher, student or individual, can nominate any K–12 public, private or charter school they think deserves a Green School Makeover. One school will win a “green makeover” and four finalist schools will win $2,500 for their sustainable upgrades.
