In 2010, Lindsey Marie Venable entered her school competition with hopes of being chosen to represent Pivot Point International at The North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) for the year. Out of three campus locations, she was the only student chosen. “I was so grateful that my hard work had paid off but I had no idea what kind of other opportunities a competition like this would bring for me,” she says.
Steve Elias is no stranger to working on editorial photoshoots. Named Editorial Stylist of the Year in 2010 by the North American Hairstyling Awards, Elias has a passion for creating beautiful looks that come alive on the pages of a magazine.
For his “Joy of Spring” photo shoot, Elias was inspired by the soft textures and strong shapes that have dominated fashion shows in 2011. “I wanted to follow the runway trends and create versatile looks that reflect them,” he says.
When he began to narrow his vision into a collection, shape was the name of the game. “The hard and soft textures combining into one shape was my inspiration—I’m all about the yin and yang.”
NAHA 2010 Editorial Stylist of the Year Steve Elias is
currently a guest artist for the No. 4 line of vegan hair
care products. He used the products to create these
fresh, textured looks for the new season.
