The flattering change of cut and color on their client was created by the salon team of Marisa Mitchell (@marisacuts)  and Madison Alexis (@itsmadisonalexis), both working out of Nova Arts Salon in downtown Los Angeles.

“The client was inspired by several different above the shoulder bobs,” explains Mitchell. “Her previous haircut from six weeks before was super heavy and flat because of her thick and coarse texture.”

The Cut

“We took the cut above the shoulder and removed a ton of interior weight, especially in the back and under her occipital bone, to change the shape of the bob and give her movement for when Madison highlighted it.

“The pre-cut took about an hour and was detailed and styled after the color process in about 20 minutes.”

The Color

Colorist Madison Alexis shares her formulas for this lighter, face-framing look:

“The guest was inspired by silver bronde hues but wanted a low maintenance, blended approach.”

Alexis did a combination of babylights for maximum lift and balayage to maintain softness.

“We glossed with 4n / 6t / 7v/ drops 1B on her root and 8v/ 9t/ clr/ drops 1B all over. Process was five hours total."
