There are different methods of removing weight  and channel cutting is one.  As you know--because you're pros!--it involves reduction of bulk at the scalp area by cutting 'channels' through the hair. It can be a little hard for a client to wrap their head around (no pun intended) so we're showing you some great examples of the technique being performed.

Stylist and salon owner, Sonna Brado @sonnabrado of Spokane, WA, is a KMS educator who knows her way around a pair of shears and she is masterful with a razor.  Her video posted to her Instagram illustrates her method.

Another pro using this strategy is @hairbysafiyaa.  Watch her precise partings and her steady hand with that cut.

Both artists have gorgeous work on their Instagram feeds so even if you're not going to go out and start channel cutting, you might peruse their pages for some inspiration and information.

True story.... channel cutting is not for the weak of heart... and, more truth.. @corinnevbrown is a brave and trusting soul!! ๐Ÿ‘ . . Brave because she will do anything with her hair.. trusting because the first time I cut channels in her hair years ago I made a mistake.... I placed a channel directly on her part line... yep, I did..and it was a big fat one!๐Ÿ˜‚ aka, a hard part!! . . Since we’re not going for a hard part this time(๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚) .... 1. Create a center part and then use diagonal sections in the direction of the movement you want to create. 2. Keep the channels short, on the frontal slope, underneath the high point of the fringe. 3. Watch for the density and growth patterns in the recession area, you can see I’m removing less hair on her left side. . . Cutting the channels in this manner gives separation and movement in the fringe area while leaving bulk in the ends of the hair.. a little goes a long way! . . Would you try it?????๐Ÿ’— . . . . . . . โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € #hair #haircut #shaghaircut #haircolor #hairstyles #hairstylist #hairofinstagram #babybangs #hairideas #hairoftheday #kmsapprovedus #hairfashion #hairtutorials #naturalhair #bangs #hairtutorials #spokanehairstylist #spokanehair #spokanehairsalon #behindthechair #salonlife #hairbrained_official #hairstyle #kmsartist #hairtrends #trendyhair #beautifulhair #spokanebalayage #spokanestylist #channelcutting
