Matrix has partnered with Love Out Lavender for its fourth year.

When the organization's founder Todd Kane’s mother received a cancer diagnosis, he remembered she taught him to believe that love conquers all. Love Out Lavender encourages beauty professionals to create inspiring images used to generate donations toward funding a search for a cure for cancer.

MODERN spoke with Anna Manukyan, AVP Matrix Education, about the brand’s involvement with the organization

What does Matrix’s involvement with Love Out Lavender involve?

Matrix is a proud supporter and sponsor of Love Out Lavender. We support causes important to our team members, and when Todd started his work with Love Out Lavender, we wanted to help bring his mission and vision to life. We match all donations up to $10k and help bring awareness to this important cause.

Why did Matrix want to be a partner of the program?

Cancer has taken so much from so many; most of us have been touched by its wrath in some way. Love Out Lavender helps bring awareness for all types of cancers. We support Love Out Lavender and Todd because of the importance of this work and the impact it can have on so many.

How does Matrix hope to help Love Out Lavender through its involvement?

We believe that together we are stronger, and this is no different. Together we can have a louder voice to bring awareness and create a better outcome for Love Out Lander and everyone touched by its mission.

Why should hairdressers and others care about this cause/organization?

Cancer isn’t picky, it doesn’t discriminate, and it certainly doesn’t care. This disease has robbed so many of their light and life. Too many of us, our families and clients deal with this on a daily basis. We are all affected by it somehow, and we should all do our part, no matter how small to try and make a difference.

Why is it important for beauty brands to support causes like this?

We all have a responsibility to leave this world better in some way, some of us have bigger platforms to do so. As leading brands, it’s important for us to work toward supporting causes that make a difference.

Tell us about Matrix’s team for Love Out Lavender.

The Matrix Leadership and many of our Artists have joined the cause and created amazing campaigns to support Love Out Lavender.

What tips do Matrix stylists have to help other stylists raise money for Love Out Lavender?

Use your voice, tell your story. You are more power than any tip sheet; make it personal to you, and use your authentic connection to reach your audience.

What goals does Matrix hope to help Love Out Lavender reach this year and moving forward?

A world with no cancer would be the ultimate goal! Until then raising awareness, funds and stylist participation are key.

How is Matrix supporting the cause with social media?

The Matrix Artists have been extremely active on social supporting Todd and Love Out Lavender; they partner with him on creating social content based on the cancer that has most impacted their life. Additionally, Matrix and Biolage continue to support our artists and Love Out Lavender on our owned social channels, encouraging our audiences to support this worthy cause.
