To take the guesswork and anxiety out hair cuts, Bosley Professional Strength created FineOmetry: a Fine to Fabulous Cutting System. FineOmetry was specifically developed so stylists could give their clients with low-density, volume-challenged hair the appearance of having the fuller, thicker and healthier-looking hair they’ve always wanted.

The below techniques are recommended for achieving the most flattering, volume-boosting styles, simply by understanding the shape of your client's face.

OVAL

Avoid: Too much volume on top
Best shapes: Most styles are universally faltering on this face shape

SQUARE

Avoid: Wide bangs, blunt bobs at jaw line will only emphasize sharpness
Best shapes: Styles with movement to soften soft features, fullness at temples

OBLONG

Avoid: Extremely long, flat hair can emphasize long face
Best shapes: Strong fringe will hide a high forehead and give the face appearance of oval shape. Break up the shape with a side part or create fullness on the sides for balance above the ear line

ROUND

Avoid: One length cuts or over-softening an already round shape with too many layers
Best shapes: Long layers, lob with side part, naturally way styles. Create a strong angular fringe or add additional height to the face at the  top of the style

HEART

Avoid: Short bangs or excessive short layering that can accentuate width
Best shapes: Jaw-length bobs that highlight the chin, long styles with bangs show off cheekbones and create  fullness/width at the nape
