ECRU New York, was the exclusive backstage hair and beauty sponsor for the Flying Solo SS19 Runway Show on September 7th at Pier 59. ECRU New York has partnered with Flying Solo backstage to design for their co-op of emerging designers for four NYFW seasons.

Within the Flying Solo co-op, over 70 designers from across the globe, showcased a wide array of womenswear, menswear and accessories in a unique collaborative and high-energy format. The show highlighted over 340 looks inspired by space-age exploration and breaking borders.

“We focused on the new exploration into the creative world and really pushing the limits. The sky isn’t the limit for us, and that’s the main concept, reaching and exploring boundaries,” says Daniel Silverstain, Lead Designer of Flying Solo.

The ECRU New York Creative Team, led by Creative Director, Lisa Lobosco, and lead makeup artist, T. Cooper, created hair and beauty looks to accompany the futuristic inspiration for the collection using ECRU New York Setting Spray, Sunlight Finishing Spray Max, Sunlight Styling Spray, and Dry Texture Spray.

“We’re seeing multiple textures and patterns together within the clothing, so we wanted to take that idea and incorporate it into the hair. The hairstyle has two different finishes and textures with the front half of the head being tight to the scalp, neat and shiny, styled with the new ECRU New York Setting Spray and Sunlight Finishing Spray Max. The hair below is left natural with erratic texture, for a little edge, using the Dry Texture Spray,” says Lobosco.

For the makeup, T. Cooper and her team created a look also centered around the theme of the show, with a metallic airbrushed mask, a metaphor of the reflection of the future. T. used the Runway Lash Amplifying Mascara’s unique flat curved brush to infuse both volume and length into the model’s bottom lashes, which were then dusted over with a red pigment for a dramatic lash look. The look was finished off with Velvet Air Lipstick in Dusty Rose and topped off with gloss for a high-shine, dewy finish.
