Keratin Complex teamed with celebrity stylist Joey George at New York Fashion Week's Duncan runway show. Supporting George was Keratin Complex Director of Education Paul Dobbert, Educator Haley Estep and the Oscar Blandi Salon Team.

Joey George first arrived in New York City to pursue a career as a ballet dancer. His studies took a different direction, but his passion to create art has remained. Through his many talents ranging from technical hair skills to painting and sculpting, George has become known as one of the most innovative hairstylists today. In 2014, his handcrafted, painted wigs became a style icon for Lady Gaga's ARTPOP world tour. His work has been published in international magazines, including Vogue, and his clients include top fashion houses.

In creating hair designs for Duncan, an emerging luxury women's ready-to-wear brand, George designed for the woman who is multi-faceted, dynamic, and complex in all areas of her life. She wears Duncan as a symbol of armor for the "goth girl gone corporate" who prefers her garments with a hint of after-dark glamour.

“This season’s vibe is what I would describe as 'New York Cool,'” George says. "It is sculptural and chic.” George shares the step-by-steps for four trends he identified and created with Keratin Complex products and tools.

Wet & Refined

“This woman is a fashionable New York woman—an editor maybe," George says. "Fresh out of the shower, slicked, and into the streets.”

1. Prep the hair by spraying Keratin Obsessed Multi-Benefit Treatment Spray liberally throughout the hair.

2. Use an applicator brush to apply Strong Hold Gel from the root through mid-lengths, and then comb through the hair from scalp out to midshafts.

3. Add 2-3 pumps of Volumizing Foam on the remaining hair to activate curls.

4. Apply heat to the top section of the hair, and lock in sleek, flat style by using the HydraDry Blow-Dryer with the diffuser attachment.

5. Add Shine Spray for added shine.

6. Finalize the look by applying Strong Hold Gel to any flyaways.

Polished High Knot

George scultped a bun into a flat, wrapped knot. “It's the ultra-elegant, yet sexy, polished high knot,” he says.

1. Prep the hair by applying Infusion Keratin Replenisher throughout the hair.

2. Apply Strong Hold Gel to hair, and comb from scalp through midshafts.

3. Use a boar bristle brush to pull hair back into a ponytail.

4. Pull the ponytail back, and use string to tie it underneath the hair.

5. Wrap a hair net around the ponytail in a clockwise motion to form a bun. Sculpt the bun into a flat, wrapped knot.

Organic Airy Texture

This short look is light and natural.

1. Prep the hair by spraying Keratin Obsessed Multi-Benefit Treatment Spray liberally throughout the hair.

2. Layer Volumizing Foam from roots to ends, and comb through with a wide-tooth comb.

3. Diffuse hair 90% dry using the HydraDry Blow Dryer with diffuser attachment while finger-twirling, scrunching, and twisting sections of hair to encourage natural texture.

'80s Feel: Off the Face

Inspired by New York City art students, this vivid-red look features grown-out, '80s-esque bangs.

1. Spray Styling Gel throughout the hair, focusing on the base/scalp area.

2. Blowdry the hair with the HydraDry Blow-Dryer, adding volume to the base and directing hair away from the face.

3. Spritz Keratin Obsessed Multi-Benefit Treatment Spray to help create and enhance natural texture. Encourage natural texture with fingers throughout the hair, especially the midshafts and ends.
