Dyson Beauty made its A/W ’24 NYFW debut backstage at the Christian Siriano and Prabal Gurung presentations, featuring their newly unveiled hair dryer, the Supersonic r. Available only to the professional community, the Supersonic r is Dyson’s smallest, lightest, and highest-performance styling innovation. See below for styling breakdowns from Dyson's session stylists on these shostopping looks.

Christian Siriano

 “For this show's glam, my inspiration for the look quite literally is a reflection of Christian’s collection," explains session stylist Lacy Redway. "When I first saw the clothes, I wanted to mirror the designs in the hair look while also indulging in blunt and unique textures that created a fun and futuristic look.”

Step-by-Step Breakdown

“I’m very particular about how clean the finish of this look is," says Redway. "The Dyson Supersonic r Professional hair dryer enables me to achieve that with the precise and intelligent attachments, delivering optimal heat and airflow.”

1. Redway prepped the hair with TRESemme One Step Blow-out Cream, TRESemme Keratin Smooth Weightless Heat Protection Spray and TRESemme Extra Hold Mousse to hydrate and protect hair against heat.

2. Next, create a deep center part and control flyaway strands with TRESemme Extra Hold Mousse. Use a flat paddle brush and the new Dyson Supersonic™ r with the styling concentrator attachment in the high air flow and high heat.

3. Then blow dry and smooth down the hair and secure it into a coiffed ponytail with an elastic. Apply TRESemme Mega Control Gel down the center part and apply speckles of gold leaf.

4. Saturate the ponytail with the TRESemme Mega control Gel and then fold the hair twice onto itself to form a rectangular flat bun. Secure hair into place with hair pins.

5. Speckle gold leaf onto the top of the bun using TRESemme Mega Control Gel.

6. Use the Dyson Supersonic™ r with the flyaway attachment in the high air flow and low heat settings to make sure the specks are set and TRESemme Keratin Smooth Weightles Silky Shine Spray to smooth the flyaways all over to achieve an effortlessly silky shine.

Prabal Gurung

“To compliment this collection, we wanted the hair to look powerful, effortless, strong and modern through the wet piecy look," says Dyson Global Ambassador and session stylist Jawara.

Step-by-Step Breakdown

1. First, Jawara prepped the hair with Wella Professionals Ultimate Repair Miracle Hair Rescue and waited 90 seconds before combing through to ensure the hair stayed protected from any damage while styling.

2. Then, he saturated the hair from root to tip with Wella Professionals EIMI Root Shoot and Glam Mist.

3. Next, he parted the hair in three places: on the left side at the high point of the eyebrow and on the sides, at the beginning of each ear.

4. Then, Jawara took a small piece of hair from the front, and using Wella Professionals EIMI Sculpt Force, swooped the hair bringing it behind the ear and pinned it at the nape of the neck leaving the rest of the loose hair in front of the ear.

5. Following that he dried the hair using the Dyson Supersonic r with the diffuser attachment.

6. Next he tied the rest of the hair at the back with a hair elastic toward the end in a criss cross shape.

7. To complete the wet look, he used Wella Professionals EIMI Pearl Styler on the drier ends

8. Lastly, he finished off the look by spraying Wella Professionals EIMI Stay Firm on the front wisps to ensure everything stayed in place, and set with the Dyson Supersonic r with the concentrator attachment.
