Team TIGI will illuminate the intersection of music festivals, hair, makeup and fashion during the 7th annual Beauty Changes Lives Experience, Sunday, March 31, at the Geraghty in Chicago. From the hippie hair of Woodstock in 1969 to 90’s grunge tresses at Lollapalooza and the vibrant hues seen at today’s Coachella, hair and music festivals share a rich and colorful history. The fusion of hair, fashion and music festivals will come to life on the TIGI NextGen runway.

TIGI Mentor: Philip Downing @philipdowning7

Philip’s journey with TIGI started as a member of the 2007 TIGI Inspirational Youth team, where he was instantly recognized as an emerging hairdressing talent. His work as a TIGI educator propelled him to membership on TIGI’s Creative Team where he presents in Europe and leading hairdressing venues around the globe. After several years of progressively elevating his craft at TIGI’s London Acadmy, Philip has returned stateside and serves as a Creative and Education Director at TIGI’s New York Academy in Soho.

TIGI Next Gen Artist: Katie Perry @katieperryhair

A French-speaking Bostonian, Katie lives and works in Vero Beach, Florida. As an alumnus of TIGI’s 2016 Inspirational Youth program, Katie applies her passion for people’s life stories to her work as an artist on the TIGI Collective team.  The Beauty Changes Lives Experience will coincide with Katie’s first visit to Chicago and she’s excited about meeting other artists working behind the scenes. “Presenting at Beauty Changes Lives is such a boon to my career and I can’t wait to work with so many geniuses in the industry and see the work they are portraying,” she says.

TIGI Next Gen Artist: Jerrette Baker @jerrettebaker

Jerrette’s relationship with TIGI started when he was a student at Toni & Guy in Seattle and he continues to have a passion for education, fashion  and music. His technique behind the chair is complemented by a degree in design from New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology and his approach to hairstyling is heavily inspired by the cohesive looks presented on fashion catwalks. “From Coachella to fashion on the street, “festival hair” has a huge influence on hair, even men’s grooming where artists are often the muse for style trends,” says Jerrette.
