Celebrating REDKEN‘s 50 Years of Lighting the Way
Long-time Redken executive and spokesperson Ann Mincey emceed the event that included a gallery of Redken memorabilia and guests who included Vidal and Ronnie Sassoon, former senior executive Bill Peplow and his wife Pam, and Redken’s fi rst distributor Bob Peel Sr. of Peel’s Salon Services along with his wife Lou, and son Bob Peel Jr. and his wife Kris. “Redken created superior products and educational programs which propelled the industry’s transformation and created a solid foundation for the company’s continued success,” said David Cannell, Ph.D., retired senior vice president of research and development.
Premiere Orlando Brings in the Crowds
Premiere Orlando returned to the Orange County Convention Center June 4-6 with attendance exceeding 50,000. Salon professionals from all 50 states and 14 countries came for educational opportunities and the 780 exhibitors who filled 2,700 booths.

Logics Opart—Bright Collection
At the Matrix Imagination Event in January 2011, Logics launched opART, a collection inspired the graphic Optical Art genre that emerged in the 1960s. Led by Matrix Artistic Director Chrystofer Benson, the team interpreted key opART concepts—the illusion of movement, visual tension, contrast and mathematically-based composition—to create the collection. Now, for fall 2011, the team has created a new opART look complete with a new color, cut and design technique to keep the opART energy alive!

MODERN Makeover challenged Anthony Lombardi, owner of Anthony Robert Salon of Verona, New Jersey, and make-up artist Olivia Blois Sharpe to create a “Jersey Club Look” on the Style Network’s newest Jerseylicious cast member, Jacquelina Bianchi. For this look, Lombardi demonstrated a foil high/lowlighting with a gentle root bump. “In this case I did a partial highlight toward the front and in the crown, with a few scattered lowlights throughout. The root was lifted slightly for a little depth along the parting.”
