Year I Obtained My License:

1992 in Perth, Australia

Why I Chose Beauty:
Where I grew up in Australia, there was a program called "Work Experience" that was open to 10th grade students. One of the assignments was to find a job in a field of interest and work there for two weeks. I chose hair, having been intrigued with how it all worked behind the scenes. Once I saw everything that went on in the salon, I knew I had found my calling.  After my two weeks were up, Edward, the salon owner, offered me a job. That was July of 1988.

Good fortune has allowed me to travel with my craft, bringing me to the States after my apprenticeship. For the past 10 years I have called Raleigh, North Carolina, home.

Several years ago I joined forces with Keune Haircosmetics. The energy and excitement that first fueled my desire to work with hair is reignited with every class I teach and every show I present. I am constantly reminded that I have the greatest job, with the ability to touch people both personally and professionally.

I have always had a strong desire to excel in our industry and as I continue to grow and learn, I see a bright future. I will share it with those who take the journey with me.

In Dubai, Clients Visit the Salon Every Week. Here’s What That Market Can Teach You

In Dubai, a salon visit isn’t an appointment. It’s a weekly routine, and clients can spend $800 to $1,400 a month on it, according to Gaurav Tripathi of MADI International. On October 6-8, 2026, the market behind those numbers opens its doors as Beautyworld Dubai marks its 30th edition at the Dubai World Trade Centre, bringing together distributors, brands, stylists and salon owners from all over the world.
