MS: What made you decide to open a distributorship?
AH: I had returned to education with other companies such as ONS NAILS, Young Nails and CND. I called Tony (Cuccio, owner of Cuccio/Star Nails) and told him I was ready to start the next phase in my career. As he has done through my last 15 years, Tony offered some solid advice. I trust his opinion as the Godfather of the nail industry to lead me down the right path. That meeting highlighted the gap of education and product that we felt I could fulfill by moving into the educator/distributor role.
MS: How long have you been a distributor?
AH: We started January 1st 2016 and we are building this territory, one salon at a time.
MS: How have past experiences led you to where you are today?
AH: I started at 18 years old educating with Star Nail, and then left to compete with ONS NAIL competition team at 21. While working with Young Nail as the Director of Education, in 1998, I struck off on my own and opened Domani Day Spa Salon in Schenectady NY where I still work today. Here I became part of the business world and started winning awards for women entrepreneurs (YWCA) and business awards (40 Under 40 Best Business in Albany County) and even wrote a column for a leading trade magazine and was featured on the cover. All of these experiences have taught me a number of lessons, some good, and some bad, all of them priceless. The countless people I have worked with have influenced me in many ways, but not one of them can compare to the mutual respect and admiration I have forTony Cuccio. As a salon owner, through the years, I would call Tony looking for advice, new products, etc. to help my techs or to just give my business a boost. He always delivered, never disregarded my ideas, and always had something positive to help my business.
Q: What is your best selling product and why?
A: Cuccio Natural Butters have been my number-one product since I opened my spa in 1998. Now that Cuccio has launched so many amazing products, since, including the Cuccio Veneers Polish, the only gel polish line I use. No other line can compare to its quality and price. In the Pedicure Line, the Detox Pedicure has been a terrific addition to our menu. Having been a part of the product from the R&D phase to the final product has been rewarding. The results of this product are extraordinary, and the profits are just as good, increasing sales by over $1,000 per month.
