The Establishment Salons (locations in Milwaukee, WI and Los Angeles, CA) are putting out a call for donations of gently-used salon and spa equipment (primarily handheld items) as part of their fundraiser for the Mayan Families Beauty School in Guatemala. In addition to sending these much-needed tools to the school, The Estabishment Salons are selling coffee from Milwaukee-based specialty coffee roaster Colectivo Coffee and 100% of the proceeds will go to the beauty school.
Co-owner of The Establishment Salons, Howie Goldklang, was introduced to the Mayan Families Beauty School through his mother-in-law, who would travel there on business.

"She's been in touch with the school for several years, regularly donating," says Goldklang, who owns the Establishment salons with his wife, Carly Flynn. "She recently suggested that we check them out with the hopes of the our salons donating something. Carly and I discussed it and our first thought was working with our long time coffee partner Colectivo Coffee in Milwaukee. They take special care when sourcing their beans and blends, visiting farms and helping communities. It seemed like a natural fit to center our fundraising sales efforts around their Guatemalan blend. Our purchasing those specific pounds of coffee helps their sources as well as provided the fundraising vehicle we need to collect money for the Mayan Family Beauty School."
Clients are particpating by making purchases of the coffee and have been notified via email blasts, Instagram and through the signage at the front desk. "The most effective way to get talking about it, " says Goldklang "is our leaving 1lb bags of coffee on each station as a conversation starter for both clients and staff."
