Geography can have an unexpected effect on hair health, and Stellario D’Urso and Geppe Enfiomusi, creators of new product Lavacqua, have figured out how to harness the minerals that make certain locales good-hair-day havens.
D'Urso and Enfiomusi are both from Sicily, whose geography is dominated by the presence or Mount Etna, the largest and most active volcano in Europe.
"We noticed that Sicilian guests coming to visit us to the U.S. complained about their hair being unmanageable in the U.S. and vice versa. Our wives and daughters, while visiting Sicily, observed having 'their best hair day ever.' We started researching the possible causes and started discovering the benefits of the mineral contents of the volcanic waters. We then formulated a cocktail of botanical elements that further enhance the benefit of the water and manufactured a small batch of product that was extensively tested by hairdressers in different areas of the U.S."
The results proved positive, so D'Urso and Enfiomusi moved forward with developing their new brand.
Lavacqua takes advantage of the unique mineral contents of certain waters collected from volcanic areas. Water that flows through the Earth in these areas accumulates precious minerals that enhance its properties. For cosmetic use, and specifically for the treatment of hair, minerals such as iron, selenium, copper and zinc add shine, brilliance and pliability to hair. These minerals are the foundation of the Lavacqua Volcanic Water Final Rinse formula and combat the damaging effects of everyday washing with regular tap water, containing chlorine and calcium, that subjects hair to impurities and chemicals that dull color and reduce pliancy. Lavacqua also contains thyme, coltsfoot, yarrow, birch bark, horsetail, nettle, rosemary, peppermint, honey and vinegar to manage overall scalp and hair health, promote hair strength, stimulate hair follicles and naturally soften and condition hair.
